Hey there!
Prepping your products for Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) can feel like a maze—labels, poly bags, expiration dates, packaging rules… and the occasional surprise requirement.
But here’s the good news: you can use AI to simplify the entire process.
Whether you’re creating prep instructions for your team, a 3PL, or your supplier, ChatGPT can help you generate clear, consistent, and Amazon-compliant guidelines in minutes.
Let’s break it down 👇
Step 1: Identify Your FBA Prep Requirements
Before anything, check Amazon’s requirements based on your product type.
Use this link: FBA Product Packaging Requirements
Make a list of prep steps for your product. For example:
Label each unit with a scannable barcode
Use poly bags for liquid or fabric items
Add expiration dates (if applicable)
Use bubble wrap for fragile goods
Once you have these, you’re ready to feed them into AI.
Step 2: Create Clear Instructions with ChatGPT
Use AI to write SOPs or prep instructions that are easy for your supplier, employee, or 3PL to follow.
Prompt:
“Write clear FBA prep instructions for a collapsible BPA-free water bottle, including labeling, packaging, and shipping guidelines. Make it suitable for a supplier who doesn’t know Amazon rules.”
ChatGPT may answer:
✅ Labeling: Apply an Amazon barcode (FNSKU) on the flat side of each unit. Make sure it is not covered, wrinkled, or placed on a curve.
✅ Packaging: Place each unit inside a clear poly bag with suffocation warning. Seal the bag completely.
✅ Bundling (if applicable): If sending as a 2-pack or gift bundle, label as “Sold as set. Do not separate.”
✅ Boxing: Place units in a sturdy box. No loose space. Use filler material to prevent shifting.
✅ Shipping: Provide box dimensions, weight, and send to the assigned Amazon fulfillment center from your shipment plan.
Step 3: Turn Instructions into a Repeatable Template
If you sell multiple products or launch frequently, use ChatGPT to build a template.
Prompt:
“Create a reusable FBA prep instruction template I can use for any new private label product.”
ChatGPT may answer:
1. Labeling: [Insert barcode labeling details]
2. Packaging: [Insert packaging requirements]
3. Expiration Dates: [Include if required]
4. Bundling Instructions: [If applicable]
5. Shipping: [Box dimensions, labeling, delivery timeline]
6. Compliance Notes: [Hazmat, suffocation warning, etc.]
Step 4: Use AI to Generate a Packing Slip or Checklist
Once your instructions are set, it’s time to make sure every box is packed exactly right—especially if you're handing this off to a supplier, 3PL, or internal team.
Use ChatGPT to create simple, printable checklists that make FBA prep easy to follow and verify.
Prompt:
“Create a printable checklist for prepping 50 collapsible water bottles for FBA shipment.”
Output Example:

Attach this to your shipments or hand it to your prep team.
Final Thoughts
With ChatGPT, you can:
✅ Save time writing prep instructions
✅ Avoid costly FBA rejections or delays
✅ Ensure consistency across every shipment
✅ Scale your operations without extra stress
Prepping doesn’t have to be painful.
Let AI do the heavy lifting so you can focus on what matters—selling and scaling.
