Hey there!

What if you could brainstorm brand names, colors, packaging ideas, and product positioning in minutes, not months?

That’s exactly what sellers are doing now—with ChatGPT.

The problem?

Most private label branding advice is either vague (ā€œtell your storyā€) or expensive (agencies).

But with the right prompts, you can use ChatGPT to clarify your product vision, find gaps in the market, and build a brand customers want to buy from.

Here’s how.

STEP 1: Define Your Brand DNA

Before you start designing logos or choosing colors, you need a clear identity. Your brand DNA includes your voice, values, and the promise you make to customers.

Prompt:

ā€œAct as a branding expert. Help me define a private label brand identity for a [product type] targeting [audience]. Give me a unique brand voice, values, tone, and customer promise.ā€

For example, if you sell eco-friendly yoga mats to women aged 25–40, ChatGPT might give you something like:

āœ… Voice: Empowering, mindful, grounded

āœ… Values: Sustainability, self-growth, simplicity

āœ… Promise: ā€œSupport your inner balance with gear that respects the planetā€

This gives direction to everything else—your packaging, your copy, even product photos.

STEP 2: Generate Unique Brand Names

Brand names are tough—especially when the good ones are taken.

ChatGPT can help you break past that creative block and generate dozens of viable options.

Prompt:

ā€œGive me 25 unique, available brand name ideas for a [product category] brand with these traits: [insert brand values or tone]. Avoid generic or overused words.ā€

šŸ’” As an extra tip, you can add another prompt like this one: ā€œCheck for .com domain availability and avoid names already used on Amazon.ā€

Here’s an example:

STEP 3: Explore Packaging + Aesthetic Directions

Packaging is silent marketing. It’s the first thing customers notice—and it influences how premium your product feels.

Prompt:

ā€œAct like a creative director. Based on the brand traits below, give me 3 visual directions for packaging. Include suggestions for colors, materials, layout, and emotional tone.ā€

You can even add this:

ā€œSuggest packaging ideas that would stand out in Amazon search results.ā€

What to expect from ChatGPT:

  • Design ideas like ā€œminimalist eco-style with kraft paper and soft greensā€

  • Color palettes that align with your brand values

  • Label layout suggestions that pop in Amazon search

STEP 4: Find Emotional Hooks for Product Positioning

Your brand needs more than features—it needs meaning. Emotional hooks help position your product as the solution to your customer’s deeper desires.

Prompt:

ā€œGive me 10 emotionally compelling angles for positioning a [product] in a competitive Amazon market. Focus on the unique identity we’ve built: [insert brand tone/values].ā€

Examples ChatGPT might give you:

  • ā€œNot just a yoga mat—your daily dose of calmā€

  • ā€œHydration that folds into your life—not the other way aroundā€

  • ā€œWhere sustainability meets self-careā€

Use these as:

āœ… Listing bullet points

āœ… Ad angles

āœ… Homepage taglines

āœ… Video scripts

STEP 5: Use AI to Validate & Refine

Your first idea won’t always be your best—and even great ideas have blind spots.

That’s where ChatGPT helps you stress-test your branding before you invest in design or packaging.

Prompt:

ā€œBased on the brand positioning and packaging ideas above, what are some potential risks or inconsistencies I should avoid?ā€

ChatGPT will highlight things like:

  • Messaging mismatches between packaging and listing copy

  • Overused buzzwords that reduce trust

  • Visual directions that don’t align with your audience’s lifestyle
